Please join us as we unveil a new sculpture in the Legacy Garden at North Buncombe Elementary, honoring two beloved students of the school — Felix and Lucas Wisely.
Felix, 9, and Lucas, 7, were lost in the flooding of Hurricane Helene on September 27, 2024, along with their mother Alison and her fiancé Knox Petrucci. The boys' classmates, teachers, and the North Buncombe community have carried their memory closely in the months since.
The piece was hand-carved by Mike Ayers of Whetstone Woodworks from Helene's salvaged timber — wood that fell during the storm, now shaped into something that will keep watch in the place where Felix and Lucas learned and grew.
