About the event

Here's the future home of "Soccer Cub." Come unveil him with us. This project is being done in coordination with Buncombe County Parks and Recreation. The artist is Mike Ayers and the piece will be unveiled after the season's first Soccer game. In 2024 Tropical Storm Helen devastated Buncombe County causing severe tree and flood damage.  For nearly one year, Cane Creek soccer fields served as 1 of 5 debris sites across Buncombe County which removed a total of 3,333,900 cubic yards of debris from across the county and in waterways. “Soccer Cub” serves as a reminder of the vital role Cane Creek played in recovery.  It is a reminder that recreation isn’t just about playing a game – it is about learning resilience, building confidence, and discovering that you are stronger than any obstacle!
