2026: A Year of Transformation and Community Connection

Updated: Jan 12

As we step into 2026, Echoes of the Forest is ready to unveil a series of meaningful projects that transform Hurricane Helene's fallen trees into lasting community treasures. Each installation represents not just recovery, but renewal—turning loss into legacy across Western North Carolina.

Mark Your Calendars

Our year begins with love and remembrance on February 14, when we'll unveil the "Tea for Two" memorial bench at the North Carolina Arboretum. This intimate installation offers visitors a peaceful spot to connect with nature and each other, embodying the healing power of shared moments.

Just three days later, on February 17, we'll reveal a stunning Black Walnut mantle in Biltmore Forest, crafted from trees that once stood tall in our community. This piece represents the warmth and gathering spaces that make our homes—and our region—so special.

Raising a Glass to Resilience

This spring brings an exciting collaboration with Burial Brewing as we launch Echoes Beer. This unique partnership demonstrates how creativity and commerce can support environmental recovery, with each sip contributing to our ongoing restoration efforts.

Honoring Heritage and Service

Our summer celebration peaks on July 4 with the dedication of a memorial bench at the VA Hospital, coinciding with America's 250th anniversary. This installation honors both our nation's history and the veterans who've served to protect it, creating a space for reflection and gratitude.

Additionally, we're working to place a community bench at The Block in front of the YMI Cultural Center, strengthening connections in this historic heart of Asheville's African American community.

Join Our Journey

Each of these projects demonstrates how disaster recovery can create lasting beauty and purpose. From memorial spaces to craft beverages, we're weaving Helene's fallen trees into the fabric of our community's future.

We invite you to join us at these upcoming events and witness firsthand how together, we're growing something beautiful from the storm.
